Your application must be received by Friday, October 23.<\/strong> The ballot must be back by 7 p.m. on Election Day (or 5 p.m. November 4 if the envelope is postmarked).<\/p><p>Bring one of the seven accepted photo IDs. Can I vote?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-hhv007 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"hhv007\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>You can register and vote in Harris County if you are a U.S. citizen, a Harris County resident, and will be 18 by Election Day (you can register at 17 years and 10 months). You cannot vote if a court has declared you mentally incompetent, or if you are still serving a felony sentence \u2014 including parole, probation, or community supervision.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-hhv008 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"hhv008\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">If you have a felony conviction<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-hhv009 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"hhv009\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Texas gives your vote back once you have <strong>fully discharged<\/strong> your sentence: prison, parole, probation, and supervision all complete, or a pardon. It is not just time served \u2014 every part of the sentence has to be finished. Then you register like anyone else. The ID you need<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-hhv012 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"hhv012\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Texas requires one of <strong>seven forms of photo ID<\/strong> at the polls:<\/p><ul><li>Texas driver license (DPS)<\/li><li>Texas Election Identification Certificate (EIC)<\/li><li>Texas personal identification card (DPS)<\/li><li>Texas license to carry a handgun (DPS)<\/li><li>U.S. military ID card with photo<\/li><li>U.S. citizenship certificate with photo<\/li><li>U.S. passport (book or card)<\/li><\/ul><p>If you are 18 to 69, the ID can be expired up to four years and still count. If you are 70 or older, an expired ID is fine as long as it is otherwise valid. The citizenship certificate never expires.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-hhv013 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"hhv013\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">If you don\u2019t have any of those<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-hhv014 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"hhv014\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>You still vote. Sign a <strong>Reasonable Impediment Declaration<\/strong> at the polling place \u2014 no separate application, no advance notice. Qualifying reasons include lack of transportation, disability or illness, missing documents, work schedule, family responsibilities, a lost or stolen ID, or one you applied for but have not received. For November 3, 2026, that is <strong>Monday, October 5, 2026<\/strong>. Texas has no same-day registration.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-hhv019 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"hhv019\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">By mail or in person<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-hhv020 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"hhv020\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Fill out a voter registration application \u2014 pick one up at any post office, library, or Harris County Clerk office, or request one online and mail it in \u2014 and return it to the Harris County Clerk&#8217;s Elections Department, <strong>postmarked by the deadline<\/strong>. Volunteer deputy registrars at community events can also take your application.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-hhv021 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"hhv021\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Through the DPS website<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-hhv022 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"hhv022\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>If you are renewing or updating a Texas driver license or ID card online, you can register to vote or update your address in the same session. If you moved, changed your name, or have not voted in a while, look yourself up before the deadline. Each primary election you pick the Republican or Democratic ballot that day (never both). If nobody in a race wins a majority, the top two go to a <strong>runoff<\/strong>.
